Three Hundred and Fifty Degrees Enterprises, Inc. (Hereby to be referred to as 350 Degrees) is a nonprofit that came into existence, originally, in 2011. In 2009 when my husband, Robert Everett and I Accepted that he was fighting a losing battle with cancer we decided we wanted to give back to the community in our latter years. We both had concerns about the at-risk youth in inner city Los Angeles who were losing sight of what is important in life. We wanted to give these at-risk youth something to dream about and goals to strive for….thus the idea of the nonprofit 350 Degree Enterprises was conceived. 350 Degrees symbolizes how far Robert and I have traveled in the 360° full circle of life – and we’re using the last 10 degrees being of service to the community.
We strive to stimulate a child’s interests and help them find their purpose in life. We cater to children struggling with today’s challenges, single-parent homes, latch-key kids, and dropouts who have little or no direction at times. We expose the kids to activities such as plays, concerts, sporting events, skating rinks, or just a simple game of baseball in the park. All our activities are followed with some type of mind stimulating interaction over pizza, hamburgers, ice cream, or whatever we can afford. It’s really invigorating to hear some of the dreams and aspirations of the young people. Most of them don’t know how to pursue or have given up on pursuing their dreams. That is where 350 Degrees steps in to help them to explore the possibilities of life, find their niche, and reach for the stars...guiding and directing them along the way.
“A child cannot dream if he has nothing to dream of…” is the foundation of our organization.
We target “at-risk youth” that have no direction in life. I have had some kids that had never been to the beach…and we live in Los Angeles. There are so many overlooked, under-privileged children in the inner-city that need exposure to something different.
